dmiedit is a file editor for DOS, designed to be customizable, efficient, and easy to use. It provides a simple interface with no unnecessary commands or options to clutter up your workspace. This allows hosting the editor on small programs like old MS-DOS systems without any changes, which makes it friendly for people with limited resources. The editor also supports external plugins, two of which are included: a spellchecker and a hex editor. The program uses standard 386 and higher protected mode memory (will run in any protected mode environment). It is currently available for MS-DOS/PC-DOS, DR-DOS and FreeDOS. It was also ported to Unix-like systems under the GPL as dmiedit2.Features:Extensions written as plugins as well as support for other extensions can be found at dmiedit's homepage.dmiedit has been discontinued since 2006, but is still available from various websites, including its original website dmiedit. sourceforge.net.
